From artificial intelligence and cyber security to future transportation and sustainability, DEKRA invested heavily in the future in 2023. This was evident in the wide range of associated subjects covered in the discussions between the Supervisory Board and the Management Board.

In the key area of AI, for example, the aim was to use DEKRA’s expertise and independence to contribute to the necessary regulation. In addition, DEKRA’s first AI testing services required setting strategic directions and making operational decisions.

Regarding transportation of the future, strategic issues were also on the agenda—for example, how the test facilities at the DEKRA Lausitzring in Klettwitz, Germany, can be developed into the world’s largest independent test center for automated and connected driving. In the 2023 financial year, DEKRA opened three additional test tracks at the location, enabling us to test the safety of assistance systems and automated driving features even more extensively.

Overall, the Supervisory Board has closely overseen DEKRA’s ongoing strategic development. The organization is very well positioned, both today and for the future. This is demonstrated by the robust growth achieved in the challenging 2023 financial year, in which DEKRA generated more than four billion euros in revenue for the first time. This strong result ensures that additional investments can be made in important future fields.
